gtX Dash Movie Backup Guide
Main Menu Navigation Shortcuts -
- Left trigger + Right Trigger + Y = DVD / CD Rip Tool
1 Rip a dvd movie to the xbox with dvd / cd rip tool
The dvd rip tool can be launched from the applications sub menu 'file managers'
, in there it is listed as "DVD cd rip tool"
You can also launch it with a shortcut from the main menu of - L trigger + R
trigger + Y -
Once the program has lauched you may need to enable the f drive in the settings, if it is not already enabled.
As the onscreen instructions suggest press the white button to access the settings
page and the first option is 'enable f drive'.
If this says no press your a button to toggle it to say yes.
Now go back to the first menu by presing the 'back' button.
Insert the disc you wish to backup, let the machine read the disc and allow the LED on the front of your xbox to stop flashing
Press A to select ' copy dvd / cd to hdd'
Now you need to choose a location to store the dvd data, there should be an option to copy to f:\movies, select that.
It will most likely have detected the movie name and should display the final dump path as f:\movies\yourmoviename\
Press start to proceed ripping the movie to the hdd (as it suggests on the screen)
Wait for the disc to eject once it has copied, could take up to 50 mins depending on dvd.
2 Play Back the movie from Media Centre
Launch media centre from the main menu
go to "my movies" (seleect my movies and press a)
go to the the location the movie was dumped to (f:\movies\my movie)
ie select f drive - select movies - select the movie folder
in the actual movie folder you will find 2 folders, audio_ts and video_ts
go into the video_ts folder, there will be many files in there, the dvd is
encoded as VOB files,
locate the 1gb vob files and press a to start playing them!
you can browse to any movie media file and play it while your in the 'my videos'
section of media centre
ie mpg avi dat xvid files
press the back button to go back from the movie to the browsing window, b takes you back out of a folder/directory
pressing back again will take you back to the main menu.
