so i'm living in china! as if you didn't know!!! heres some basic putonghua for you... and note I've learnt all my language skills via spoken words so my pinyin (english spelt chinese words) is not always technically correct buts its phonetically how i think about the words. Liu is the number 6 .. Li is mile (or kilometre) and qiao is bridge .. so thats right i live at 6 mile bridge.. in an old commy style apartment building with my wife ... the whole apartment costs 1600 yuan a month post olympics. We used to have it for 1200 a month!

It has three rooms.. we have lived in 2 of them at various times. 2 chinese girls share the other room so technically our share is about 800 yuan a month. Upon my recent arrival they are repiping the whole block which means we have ho toilet shower or any running water!!
